Farrell's often served up seasonal and holiday ice cream items. Here are a
few of the ones I remember.
Happy Orange - Orange-flavored Ice Cream Soda with Vanilla Ice Cream and an
Orange Slice. Very popular summer beverage.
Pina Colada Shake - Pineapple and Coconut (no rum, sorry).
Crisp Kringle - Butterscotch sundae with Butter Pecan Ice cream, spanish
peanuts and almonds. Offered for a couple of years in the late 1970's during X-mas
season.
Minty Marvel - Peppermint and Chocolate Chip Mint ice cream topped with Hot
Fudge and Marshmallow topping. This one was popular enough to make it onto the
standard menu for a whole year.
Spring Chicken - Scoops of orange, raspberry and lime sherbet with one of
those disgusting marshmallow chickens on top. An easter treat...
Tummy Warmers - the wintertime sequel to the Big Swig, these consisted of a
choice of hot beverages (flavored coffees, hot chocolate, hot apple cider, hot
egg nog) with a scoop of ice cream on top and you keep the mug. Only offered in
winter of 1982-83.
Grasshopper pie - slice of chocolate chip mint ice cream pie (in a chocolate
pie shell), topped with hot fudge.
Santa Claus Sundae - Single scoop sundae with whipped cream beard and cherry
nose.
Black cat - hot fudge sundae with chocolate ice cream, served in tall glass.
Whipped cream head, shoestring licorice for whiskers, candy corn eyes, cherry
nose, banana ears.
The Witch - single scoop sundae with chocolate topping, sugar cone for
witches hat, peanut eyes.
