| This glass is circa 1965, as determined by the
lack of word "Restaurant" in the logo. |
 |
| This mug was widely distributed in 1975. The
musical notes and the phrase "Farrell's is Fabulous Fun" represent the new
theme song that was copyrighted in 1975 and distributed to all parlours on
the background music tapes. |
 |
| In 1980, Farrell's introduced the Big Swig
drink size. Buy a soft drink or fountain beverage in the Big Swig size and
you get to keep the glass. This item was enormously popular with the guests.
The glasses were made by Anchor Hocking, and enough were made for each store
to receive approximately 100 dozen.
After the initial run of the Farrell's logo glassware, a promotional deal
was struck that allowed Farrell's to use Coca Cola logo glassware. The
"Colossal Coke" replaced the Big Swig glass for the remainder of the
promotion. |

 |
| After the success of the Big Swig (which was
rolled out as a summer promotion), Farrell's tried the "Tummy Warmer"
promotion in the winter of 1982-83. A variety of flavored coffees (from
Hill's Brothers) as well as hot apple cider, hot egg nog, and hot chocolate,
were offered, each with a scoop of ice cream and whipped cream on top. Like
the Big Swig, buy the drink and keep the mug. While the Tummy Warmers were
surprisingly good, the promotion was not nearly as successful as the Big
Swig. Consequently, the promotion was discontinued after one winter. |
